Abstract: The purpose of this research is to improve the activity and students’ achievement in the material of communication using telephone at year X of office administration class SMK Negeri 1 Banyudono by applying the role playing method. The result of research showed that applying the role playing method can improve the students’ activity and achievement. The students’ activity in preaction was only 62.5% and the students’ achievement was low, it was 42.18% of students who reached the passing grade. The improvement happened in the first cycle. The students’ activity from preaction 62,5% became 68.75%. The students’ achievement from preaction 42.18% reaching passing grade became 71.87%. The action of the second cycle, the students’ activity improved as many as 18.75% from 68,75% became 87,5% and the students’ achievement improved as many as 17.13% from 71,87% became 89% students reached passing grade in the second cycle. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that applying role playing method can improve the students’ activity and achievement in the subject of Information and Technology with competence standard of applying oral communication skill.
